One time Nikolai's wife Anna fell, landing on a back on a stone, causing her great difficulties and pain. Always after treatment the pain retreated, but after a few weeks it came back again. The woman could only do housework on her knees and also work in the garden.
‘At one beautiful moment I thought to crawl to the bee hive,’ Anna says. ‘With great difficulties and pain, I stood up, leaned my back against the hive and stayed still. After some time I started to feel the pain starting to retreat. Literally like after the injection. I forgot about back problems until that evening.’
She told the man Nikolai about her discovery and so the idea was born. ‘How about we try to lay on the hives?’ Kolja connected 2 hives and placed 6 boards, creating a spot to lie on and slept there until morning. The feelings were significant and extraordinary. Anna says: ‘The first night was enough for her husband to sleep 5 hours. In addition, he was so active and full of energy during the day, I asked him to make me such a ′′bed on beehives." It was of course uncomfortable at first. I kept thinking: how would bees react to such a neighborhood?
Turns out they were kind.
Of course, they first came to find out who made it on their hives, but after a while they calm down.
We've been sleeping like this for ten years, from March to the end of September, and not once have I, my husband, nor our two sons been stung by a bee! I forgot about my back pain and chronic inflammation that summer.
Currently we have 4 beds for sleeping on the hives, with 2 of which are two-seater. The hives are from the bottom and from the top.
In such a bed, you are not cold in any weather, says Nikolai.
Bees maintain a permanent temperature of around 36 degrees all year round.
It's a temperature at which one doesn't overheat or cool, because the human body usually has such a temperature.
If you put a mattress on the countertops and similar, it will have no effect, because you lose direct contact with the bees and their vibration, heat and sound they produce with wings.
Anna continues: I confess I couldn't stand it and decided to try all the muscles from sleep with bees. I lay on the hive and smelled the microvibration. It's like the wires were vibrating underneath you and something from behind was slightly pushing back.
Then my head started to spin gently from the ubiquitous scent of buckwheat, propolis and linden.
I took about 10 minutes nap, but I felt like after a hearty sleep that lasts all night.
All the malaise and lethargy collected during the week fell from me as if I wave my hand.
