Your assets? Safely stashed in a blind trust. How laughably optimistic.
"Here’s the problem: no ethics screen, no blind trust, no amount of bureaucratic tap-dancing can erase the fact that you 'know' what’s in your portfolio. Clean energy, nuclear power, infrastructure — what a coincidence that Brookfield’s fingerprints are all over these sectors. Your screen might stop you from signing the cheques, but it doesn’t keep Bay Street from buzzing.

I'm really beginning to palpably feel the disdain, condescension, impatience of central Canada vs the ROC, rest of Canada. It's a bit shocking, more than a bit. It's ridiculous how much Alberta's & Saskatchewan's economic chops subsidizes the socialist mentality down east. It's Western grit & Can-do attitude that is the real Canada. Sir John A. and Wilfrid Laurier would be singing your praises, & frankly would see Alberta & Sask. as the true home of our 'strong & free' Canada. Central Canada is flat-out living off the West; it's the welfare entitlement queens of the country. It can't continue.
It would be like if 2 or 3 Midwest US states paid in the lion's share of US federal government funding AND transfer payments to the rest of the US. That wouldn't wash. Alberta & Sask. have been far too patient waiting for freeloading Central Canada to step up & shoulder its fair share.
